William Shamar Whitt.... A Craving For The Sweet Science
Brooklyn born and raised, William Shamar Whitt, also known as Mr. Pound 4 Pound decided one day that he would take this "boxing thing" seriously. With the heart to fight and the thirst to win, he could not deny his craving for the sweet science. So he got his act together, regained his focus and entered the gym. In his own words, take a journey through the heart and head of one of New York City's top amatuers. Through pain and disappointment, he strives to be pound 4 pound, the best fighter, amatuer and pro that ever laced up a piar of gloves.....
"I started boxing in July of 2004 off and on, then I took a year off in 2005. In November 2006 I came to Ardon Sweet Science Gym and began to take boxing seriously. Due to torn ligaments in my left hand, I didn't participate in the Metro's and had my first fight on January 19th 2007. I fought with a fracture in my left hand and still won. I won the Friday Night Fights championship twice. I fought in the Golden Gloves and lost a split decision in the quarters.

That was a fight many thought I won, including Damon Dash, Paulie Malignaggi and the fans. I fought that fight with fractures in both of my hands. I love boxing, I'm in the gym 6 days a week, I spar four times a week at a minimum of four 3 minute rounds. I spar with fighers from 132-200 plus and I do 500 plus situps a day. I run 4 miles, four times a week. My hands are as healthy as they have been in a while and I'm looking forward to showing what I can do when I am healthy. I fight for the Friday Night Fights Championship again on August 10th,
